Full bodied wine with deep cherry colour, this is a savoury and aromatic wine with hints of coffee, leather and other vegetable notes against a background of blackberry and fresh dark fruit. Great balance with firm sweet tannins and lingering smooth finish.
What the producer says:
The Vintage:
Across Spain the weather pattern was remarkably similar with temperatures rising at the end of June, a very hot July and then relief for the vineyards as cooler weather came in August. Harvest dates were generally a little earlier than usual and most regions were able to bring in the fruit in good weather. Favourable weather generally kept vineyard diseases at bay in 2015 however intense heat brings different challenges and how the vines coped with it depended on many factors including altitude, vine age, exposure, soil type and grape variety. There is plenty of talk of high quality from this vintage – whites with intense flavours and aromas and reds with great complexity and good ageing potential.
Maceration: Pre-fermentation cold maceration of 24 to 48 hours
Fermentation: Grapes are selected using a strictly selection process with 3 stages. Only the best grapes are then fermented at 25°C
Ageing: 6 months in French Oak Barrels
Tasting notes:
Full body, delicious Tempranillo is very expressive and shows the organoleptic characteristics of the variety. Deep cherry colour, rich aromas of ripe fresh fruit like strawberries and plums and hint of coffee with light balsamic notes coming from the aging of the wine in French oak.
Food pairings: Meat, charcuterie, excellent with fried eggs and smoked loin
